We have followed the design format of many portable eurorack cases, but with our made-to-order case, we can offer you plenty of choices. We have our add-to-basket options, or you can choose to customise further, by getting in touch and outlining your requirements.
All the cases can be customised with the following:
- HP width
- Tolex colour
- Power options
- Threaded inserts or sliding nuts
The sides are constructed from 15mm thick ultra-lightweight ply; the top and bottom are 12mm thick ply. Lightweight. Rigid. Tough.
Inside the case, provides a generous standard depth of 120mm for modules – before accounting for power – with 40mm clear in the lid.
If the standard settings are too deep or too shallow, you can add a note with your order telling us the clear depth you want for the module section and the clear depth for the lid. As long as the total depth is no more than 240mm you can have your bespoke configuration, at no extra cost.
You could, for example, future-proof your case by having an extra-deep lid to add frames to later.
As standard, on the side of the case, there is a cut-out. If you are not ordering your case with power, there are more choices to make:
- 2.5mm DC input with switch ( eg for TipTop Zeus)
- 2.1mm DC input with switch.
- A fused switch, IEC male power socket
- Just a vent panel
- No cut-out
If you want some help choosing the right case for you, don’t hesitate to email for advice or ideas, we’re more than happy to help.
All cases are supplied with M3 x8mm machine screws.
Power
We have three options available for our cases over 9U in size. The TipTop Audio Zeus Power System & two options from Konstant Lab. There are more details on both below. We can fit all systems in your case if you decide to go for any of these power options
Tiptop Audio
The TipTop Audio system provides quality eurorack power for your system. If you purchase your case with the TipTop Audio Zeus Studio Bus system, you will be provided.
- Zeus Studio Bus board – one for each row of modules.
- Zeuss Access Switch.
- Cincon-TTA Power Supply.
There is lots of information and additional details in the TipTop Audio Zeus Studio Bus manual. The manual is well worth reading to understand the system, although a great deal of the information is about installing the power in your case. Of course, if you order a SynthRacks case with a power system, we will install it for you. If you are starting to build up your Eurorack system, we can supply a single Zeus Studio Bus board, to which you can add additional boards as your system builds up (please get in touch to enquire about pricing). The case will be pre-drilled to accept new boards – if you get these from SynthRacks, we will supply all the necessary hardware (the standoffs/spacers) and hook-up wires.
The Zeus Studio Bus board offers a total of 16 module connectors: 14 of them are 16-pin headers for connecting eurorack modules and two of the connectors are for Analogue Systems modules. The additional 5V voltage needed by some modules is being generated internally by the Zeus Studio Bus. Three LEDs show the active voltages 12V, -12V and 5V. The maximal current per bus board is 1250mA at 12V, 800mA at -12V and 300mA at 5V. Tiptop Audio recommend the use of a powerful external power supply with 4.6A for providing up to three Zeus Studio Busses with power. The Cincon power supply will be supplied with a 13amp IEE lead (kettle style lead). If you are buying outside of the UK you will need to supply your own lead to connect the power to the mains.
Note: Cincon switching power supply works with 110v to 230v.
Konstant Lab Power
StrongPWR
The Konstant Lab StrongPWRis a 4HP wide module that is mounted in your case as a module, which provides on the face panel:
-  DC input jack,  (5.5 x 2.1 DC input, centre positive) is for the supplied Mean Well power brick
- On/off switch
- 3 LED indicator lights showing the presence of output voltage
- USB connector for charging a smartphone, tablet, supply light lamp or external sequence.
- A second DC jack socket on the face panel allows for daisy chain connecting to a further power StrongPWR module for larger systems.
There is an input filter on each regulator for minimal output noise and interferences.
Output power is similar to the BoardPWR at 45w and connects to the 2 Konstant Lab filtered bus boards with 2 x 200m long ribbon cables.
Power Supply:
2000mAÂ +12v
1200mAÂ -12v
1500mA Â +5V
Particularly suitable for DIY power installation as you are not dealing with mains wiring and eliminate the need for cutting in a switch to your case.
The two Konstant Lab Filtered bus boards supplied with this bundle each have 18 shrouded (sideloaded) output headers.
The Filtered BusBoards are low profile.
This is an ideal bus board for all Konstant Lab power supplies but will work with other eurorack power supplies. The 18 output headers are divided into 2 areas; 12 direct headers with decoupling capacitors and 6 filtered headers with unique filtering circuits. The filtered headers are dedicated to feeding analogue modules which are sensitive to power quality.
BoardPWR
The Konstant Lab BoardPWR unit is to be fitted inside the case and has 45w of output power and uses an input 18v DC (16-20v) supplied from the included 60w x 18V MeanWell power brick.
There are two types of output connections. You can connect bus boards via two 16pins IDC headers or the recommended way via high-quality WAGO spring terminals with the wires supplied. 3 LED’s indicate the presence and drop of output voltage.
Power Supply:
2000mA +12v
1200mA -12v
1500mA +5V

MODULE FIXINGS
SynthRacks Eurorack Cases are all set up to accept M3 machine screws. We would recommend the square sliding nuts and with each case, you will be supplied with the following:
- 84HP cases – 40 M3 sliding square nuts per 3U frame.
- 104HP cases – 50 M3 sliding square nuts per 3U frame.
- 126HP cases – 60 M3 sliding square nuts per 3U frame.
However, you can specify – as an optional extra – that your case is fitted with threaded rails instead of the sliding nuts. (Note: threaded strips will come in two parts, in cases larger than 104HP)
Each 3U will also be provided with M3 machine screws, which are suitable to use with the sliding nuts or the threaded rails. We keep a stock of all fixings so additional M3 machine screws and nuts can be purchased as required.
Sliding nuts are more economical and should allow you – by loosening the screws – to slide a module along the rail to reposition it without taking it out of the case. They will also ensure that the modules can butt up neatly to each other, which otherwise may not be possible with threaded rails, due to different manufacturer tolerances of the module face panel.
Either way, not a matter to dwell on for too long, as the frame can be removed from the case without much effort and additional nuts or threaded rails can be inserted.
Delivery
All our cases are handmade. If you place an order with us you can expect your case to take about 3-4 weeks before delivery. We will be in contact throughout the process to confirm requirements and communicate delivery dates.
Kathleen S. –
I ordered the portable travel case for my son to his specifications. I was impressed with the quick response to the order letting me know that it was received and when I could expect it. About a week before it was sent out, I had another email telling me when it would be shipped. The case arrived on time and in great shape! Thank you! Very professional and courteous service!
